Throughout the week, students explored some of the nation's most significant landmarks, including Old Parliament House and Australian Parliament House, gaining valuable insights into Australia's political system. A visit to the Australian Electoral Commission provided a hands-on understanding of the voting process and the importance of participating in democracy. 

One of the highlights of the trip was the moving visit to the Australian War Memorial, where students reflected on the sacrifices made by servicemen and women throughout Australia's history. The experience was both educational and inspiring.

Students also enjoyed a day of discovery at Questacon, where interactive exhibits challenged them to think creatively and engage with science in exciting ways. At the Australian Institute of Sport, they gained an appreciation for the dedication, training and perseverance required of Australia's elite athletes.

Of course, no Canberra trip would be complete without a little fun in the snow! Our much-anticipated snow day at Mt Selwyn was a highlight for many students, who spent the day tobogganing, playing in the snow and enjoying an experience that was entirely new for some.

To conclude the trip, students visited the National Arboretum and the National Capital Exhibition, learning more about Canberra's development, design and unique landscape.

The trip was a tremendous success, and our students were outstanding ambassadors for St Peter's. Their behaviour and enthusiasm were consistently praised throughout the week, making staff incredibly proud.

A special thank you to the staff who generously gave their time to make this experience possible. The memories made, friendships strengthened and lessons learned will be treasured by our Year 6 students for years to come. We all had an absolute blast!
